Where is the Best Place to Have a Picnic?
A picnic offers many possibilities since we don’t need to bring too many things. First and foremost, we need a picnic basket, a blanket or mat, and whatever we would like to pack into the basket. Depending on where we want to go, there are a few things that are good to bring along.
We can have a picnic by a nearby river. Most of the time, it is surrounded by or located near a forest, so it’s a good idea to remember that our picnic basket should include not only snacks but also products to ward off mosquitoes and ticks. If we bring a furry friend, such as a dog or cat, we should also pack cold water for our pet. Those planning to bring children along for the picnic surely know what will come in handy for them. A board game or skill game will certainly be useful, so that the kids aren’t just glued to their phones or tablets!
A picnic by the river is a great way to enjoy an affordable trip outside the city. There is surely a water body nearby, possibly even with a swimming area. During the summer season, this will delight any grumbler! What to bring with us? Definitely something to sit on and the picnic basket with snacks. What works well for picnic snacks? Items that can stay out of the fridge for a while, such as: sausages, Italian/Spanish ham, bread, rolls, yeast cake, challah, jam, fruits, vegetables, and some cheeses (like grana padano or other hard cheeses). Remember to bring enough drinks, preferably water or chilled tea.
Should You Organize a Picnic While on Vacation?
When spending our holiday by the sea, organizing a picnic is a pleasant way to spend time. It doesn’t necessarily have to be in the morning hours. We can go to the beach in the morning and have a picnic after lunch. After all, we work all year for these moments, so it’s worth making the most of them!

Even if we have an all-inclusive option at the hotel, it shouldn’t discourage us from organizing a picnic. On the beach, we can gaze at the waves, which helps soothe the nervous system and is beneficial for the whole body. The same principles apply by the sea as by the river, meaning we bring: a blanket/mat, picnic basket, snacks, and drinks. If we’re doing the picnic in the morning, a thermal picnic basket will come in handy to keep food and drinks cool for a longer time.
Spending time in the mountains? Even more so, think about a picnic! The mountains are not only for climbing but also for admiring the views and relaxing. Choose a shorter route for your picnic or set it up in a valley to enjoy the majesty of the surrounding mountains. It doesn’t matter if we have pre-booked meals; being outdoors has a great positive impact on our entire body, so don’t hesitate to spend time on such an outdoor picnic. In the mountains, the rules about what to bring are generally the same. Remember to pack an extra blanket or sweater in case it gets chilly. Additionally, we can bring more snacks like cheeses, which can include cheeses with olive oil and herbs in jars that we can enjoy with salad or pre-cooked pasta.
Is a Picnic Suitable for a Romantic Evening?
Yes! It may seem old-fashioned to some, but a picnic for a romantic dinner is certainly suitable! It could even be THE day when the beloved woman says “yes” to the beloved man. Isn’t that romantic?
What can we do to make such an evening one of the most enjoyable? Create the right atmosphere. A warm mat, or even a sleeping bag, a thermal picnic basket to keep the food warm, a pre-prepared dinner, and candles. No matter the picnic destination, remember to pack a mosquito repellent, as we definitely don’t want them ruining our evening!
A picnic in the evening works well in almost any location. Whether it’s the mountains, Mazury, or a trip to the sea – following the above tips will ensure a successful day or evening. Live in the city? No problem! Many parks in cities are now open for picnics. You can even organize a picnic near an airport and watch the majestic heavy equipment gently lifting into the air. The most important thing is the preferences of us or our loved ones. A little thought about the best location, packing the right gear – and off we go!
